Fender for Life

This beautiful thing has been used on every MIRS release. (and before that, SHANKS AND THE DREAMERS). While we use less and less guitar these days, it's still our first tool for writing new records.

MIRS constant art Collaborator - Ali Sabet

Funny thing that we've been updating posts about our album art. Over half our cover art has been a collaboration between us and artist Ali Sabet. Last year, we went to Tokyo with Sabet to take care of project stuff.

This year, he went alone and ended up doing a mural at the AIRBNB he was staying at. That particular story is going viral now, with over 30 outlets doing stories on it after the INDEPENDENT ran its story. You can read it here

Below is a short visual doc of our Tokyo trip last year, which our friend Mahyar shot. He ended up using tracks from CANYON. Solo MIRS makes several short appearances.

Spin Cycle EP alternative cover art

Since we just updated our last post with the alternative art for our 2012 single, TAKE AWAY, it brought back the memory that we had created another version of our cover art for our 2010 ep and debut record, SPIN CYCLE.

This record was purely a solo effort, the first time Amir tried to produce on his own and the first release Amir had after SHANKS AND THE DREAMERS went on permanent hiatus. The song titles reflected the changing seasons, and each track was recorded with the corresponding season.

The particular photo used on the cover below came from a laundry mat in Toluca Lake California, shot on good old 35mm Kodak Stock from a Nikon FE. I believe Kodak Ektachrome color reversal stock was used with, of course, a pretty long exposure.

If you never spun the record, head on over to our Spotify page and give it a go. Please feel free to add any of the tracks to your classic 21st-century playlists :)
